Corinna Chang is a prominent music educator and performer for twenty years in the Singapore music scene, having trained many prize-winning students and teachers.
A music scholarship recipient from the University of Adelaide, Australia, sh graduated with high honours in Music Performance and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Music Education. A first prize winner in Australia, Corinna has used her performing expertise to help her students to win competition in Singapore and in the United States. Her music teaching Licentiates were awarded by the Royal Schools of Music (London), Australian Music Examinations Board and she is a Fellow of the Trinity College of Music (London). She was the first Singaporean to attain the Performance for Accompanying (Australia).
A passionate teacher, her recent student successes including achieving the high Scorer’s Award (Practical) for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools for achieving the Highest Marks in 2004. Other successes are 3 students winning the International Hedy King Robinson Award for Excellence in Music Theory given by the Royal Schools of the Music, London in two consecutive years 2003-2004. In 2005, two students achieved Perfect Score (100%) for their Theory results.
Trained in the Suzuki Method, her Teachers include Haruko Kataoka (Japan), Jeanne Ludheke (US), and Professor Hwang Kyung – IK (Korea). She is also active as a member of the Asia International Suzuki Association, Asia Suzuki Association and Singapore Music Teacher Association. She has participated in Music Conventions in Japan, Korea, Australia and Italy.
Corinna is active as a performer and has performed with members of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with international soloist at the Victoria Concert Hall, Conference Hall and the National University of Singapore Cultural Theaterette.
Corinna Chang plays 3 instruments – piano, violin and flute. Her greatest expertise lies in teaching children from as young as 18 months about music. Children are like seedlings. Featured in publications like Young Parents.Her World,Today’s Parents,Expat Living.
Her students have performed at the Suzuki Pan Pacific Conference, International Exposition and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra Music Marathons. Committed to sharing her musical knowledge with others she gave a talk at the “World Book Fair”, in June 2005 which was well receive by parents. She has also been given an award for her contribution to society by the National Kidney Foundation for organizing a charity Music Concert in 2001.
Her excellence in teaching has led to Corinna and her students to have been featured in publication like “Young Parent” and “Her World”. Corinna teaches from beginners to diploma level but her special expertise lies in the moulding of young talents from 18 months onwards. She is confident of turning any toddler into a musician and she strongly believes that one must show love and sincerity to inspire others to learn. |
